 | Dating from 1800, this charming Miller's cottage stands amidst 3.5 acres of beautiful gardens and pastureland with sheep and poultry. Comfortably furnished, thoughtfully equipped, warm and cosy, it provides a peaceful rural retreat and excellent base from which to explore the Cotswolds.
Mill Cottage is fully centrally heated, double glazed and furnished and equipped to the highest standard, earning it an English Tourism Council 4 star Rating. We provide not only all linen, towels etc. but plenty of little extra touches to make you feel at home. In the sitting room a wood burning stove will keep you wonderfully cosy and warm during the colder weeks. Built of local honey-coloured stone, the cottage stands in 3 ½ acres of land, which includes a smallholding where we keep poultry and sheep. The lovely garden comprises lawns, borders, trees, roses and herbs. |
| Approaching Mill Cottage, the visitor follows the path from the paved front yard up and around the side of Mill House, past the kitchen window and back porch, continuing through a small gate towards glazed double doors. From the small entrance lobby turn right into the sitting room, a lovely sunny room with beamed ceiling and stone fireplace, the North window looking up the orchard, the South window, still with its original wooden shutters, offering views of the garden and fields. In winter the sitting room is kept wonderfully cosy with a wood burning stove for which logs are supplied. Turn left into a beautiful farmhouse-style kitchen with Cotswold stone flagged floor and windows furnished with their original pine shutters. A window-seat complements the pine dining table and chairs, and the high quality oak-fronted units. Contempory round bowl sink, electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and food-processor, plus all you need in the way of pots, pans, crockery etc. | |
 | Outside, plenty of space for parking outside the barn and a chance to meet our hens, geese and sheep! To the East of the cottage, the garden and a small patio with table and chairs are available for your relaxation. Enjoy walks across the fields, towards Salford village or Chipping Norton, or take a trip to some of the many nearby beauty spots such as Broadway, Chipping Campden, Cheltenham, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Burford, the Slaughters etc. or for serious walkers, the prettiest local villages and the Cotswolds themselves are just on our doorstep.
There might be a chance to fly in a hot air balloon by special arrangement and weather permitting. Or you can just laze about here enjoying the peace of the countryside, the garden and the wildlife.
